Big Play Freddy is the first book by me – John Ribbing.
I’m a married father of 4 – 2 boys and 2 girls.
Both of my sons played and love football and my oldest daughter was a 2 time powder-puff champion!
Both boys wore #33 for the Malow Jr. High Mustangs and the Eisenhower High School Eagles – and my son Nick still wears it for Wheaton College. (My nephew is also carrying on the 33 family tradition for Malow today.)
This book was one that I wrote for my boys years ago.
I must have read Kick Pass and Run by Leonard Kessler 1000 times to them and loved how the animals were the stars. I wanted to write something similar that was a little different than the other football books for kids.
Our family has also created several flag football leagues for kids that love the sport but might not have the means to play.
My alma mater did a nice write up about our program a few years ago – you can read it here – it’s on page 20.
A portion of the proceeds from sales of Big Play Freddy will be used to continue to fund these flag football leagues.
